LOS ANGELES- (December 4, 2012) Grammy
Award® nominated recording artist, singer/songwriter, and South African
transplant Jonathan Butler loves the people of his adopted hometown of
Los Angeles. The city's triumphs and tribulations influence his every
day life. The people who have so warmly welcomed him from South Africa
inspire him to dedicate time to giving back to the community in music
and outreach.
While touring his new CD, Grace and Mercy, he has made a concerted effort to share his music at churches and events in the Los Angeles area where Butler resides.
"I believe that
God has a lot in store for me, and I'm heeding the call and obeying God
by using my music in and outside the house of God," said Butler. "I'm
blessed to touch people's lives and bring them to Christ."
Butler's stops
included appearing as a special musical guest at Angeles Temple at The
Dream Center, West Angelus COGIC, Los Angeles Praize Night, and at First
AME Church of Los Angeles in support of the American Diabetes
Association's ID Day.
While
visiting Angelus Temple at The Dream Center, Butler performed his
single "I Stand On Your Word" with the church band during the worship
set and "Falling In Love With Jesus" acoustically with guitar. Angelus
Temple is a church open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a focus on
serving others and community outreach. Pastor Matthew Barnett
established Angelus Temple and The Dream Center to serve the inner
city's physical and spiritual needs and provide hope to the homeless,
at-risk, and underserved in the community.
Butler
participated in the American Diabetes Association's ID Day on November
18 where he encouraged community and church members to get tested for
Diabetesand bring awareness to the epidemic. Butler shared music at the
First AME Church in Los Angeles and appeared in a special American
Diabetes Association luncheon.
